Not the start that they wanted, but the season’s still young for Team Liquid.
Despite being the MSC 2025 champions, Team Liquid’s Oheb and crew are not exactly having the best time right now in MPL PH S16. Immediate expectations were that they would come in and establish themselves as kings of the league. But ever since their loss to ONIC PH in week one, they have been struggling to stay in form.
Part of the reason for their struggles is that they chose to rest for a week despite the start of season 16 being so close. While preparations are important, Gold Laner Kiel “Oheb” Q.Soriano believes that the break was much needed.
“Feel ko deserve talaga namin mag-rest,” said Team Liquid’s Oheb. “Kasi yung sunod-na-sunod na tournaments, minsan one day lang kami nagbre-break tapos practice agad kami.”
Oheb also believes that a lack of practice isn’t the team’s main problem right now. As with any esports, the meta in MLBB is always moving, and Team Liquid have unfortunately fallen behind the curve.
“Hindi kami nagskri-scrim so wala kaming mabunot na drafting sa ibang teams,” continued Team Liquid’s Oheb. “Tapos yung drafting at galawan namin sa MSC, ina-apply pa namin sa MPL at mukha ngang nabasa na ng mga teams yun. So ngayon, kailangan na namin mag-adjust sa bagong meta.”
Coming Back Stronger in the Next Round
Team Liquid’s standing isn’t so bad right now, but the overall result is unsatisfactory for our recent MSC champions. The team isn’t used to losing, and that’s a bit of a mental barrier that they need to get over first to improve.
“Siyempre, hindi naman lagi positive kami,” admits Team Liquids’ Oheb. “Kung lagi kang talo, hindi ka makaka-stay positive palagi. Pero dahil sa experience ko at ng mga kakampi ko, feel namin na madali din ma-work out ito.”
The season’s still young, so there’s still plenty of time to improve for Team Liquid. Plus, they have to work hard so that they can give ONIC PH a better fight once the second round robin starts.
“Hindi namin nabigyan sila ng ganong kagandang laban nung week one kasi kababalik din namin. So gagalingan na lang namin sa next na pagtatapat namin.”
