Teams Are Ready to Go All-Out at ESL One Birmingham 2024

By Ramon Domingo - April 17, 2024
There’s a lot riding on one of the few Tier 1 Dota 2 tournaments of the year.

The stage is set for ESL One Birmingham 2024 as teams gather in the UK. Happening this weekend from April 22-28, this is one of the last chances for teams to earn points to qualify for Riyadh Masters.

Attending will be 12 teams, the top four from the EPT leaderboard and eight from the regional qualifiers. The group stage will have them divided into two single round-robin groups of six where each team will play a two-game series. The top two teams of each group will advance to the upper brackets playoffs. Third and fourth will enter the lower brackets and the bottom two will be eliminated.

Playoffs will be a double-elimination bracket where teams will play a best-of-three until the grand finals best-of-five. The winner will walk away with the lion’s share of the 1,000,000 USD prize pool and 6,400 EPT points, practically guaranteeing them a spot in Riyadh Masters.

Teams to Watch Out For

BetBoom Team has been on an absolute tear ever since The International 2023 with multiple podium finishes in major tournaments. Despite that, a first-place finish still eludes them. Will ESL Birmingham 2024 be the one where they take it all?

G2 x iG is also a team that should be on everyone’s radar. The relatively new team doesn’t have much in terms of results but they were able to beat the previous ESL champions Azure Ray to qualify for Birmingham. This isn’t a fluke as well, as they were able to do it again for the PGL Wallachia Closed Qualifier. They’re certainly a team that shouldn’t be underestimated.

This is also a critical moment for Shopify Rebellion as they’re currently just shy of the top eight in terms of EPT points. The top eight get a direct invite to Riyadh Masters, which would be big for the recently restructured team.

You can catch the ESL One Birmingham 2024 live on their official YouTube and Twitch channels.
