The Bali Major: The Final Step On The Road To The International

This is the last chance teams have to qualify directly through the DPC standings.

There will be no time for some fun under the sun even in Bali, as the Bali Major is set to start this week! This marks the last Major of the year but it is the very first to be held in Indonesia.

Only seven slots are left for direct invites through DPC points. Team Liquid, Gaimin Gladiators, Evil Geniuses, Shopify Rebellion, and Tundra Esports secured the first five.

For the two Filipino teams in the tournament, it’s a long road ahead for Blacklist International to get enough DPC points. They’ll need many teams ahead of them to flounder to get a shot. Execration has a shorter road as they’re sitting right outside the threshold of an invite, but it’s no less rocky as their previous disappointing Major appearances have now left them no room for mistakes.

Week one’s group stage will have the teams separated into two groups of nine. The teams will then face each other in a best-of-two, single round-robin to determine which six teams from each group will move on to the playoffs.

Playoffs week will be a best-of-three, double-elimination bracket for the remaining teams. The last team left standing after the grand finals best-of-five will earn the right to lift the glorious Bali Major trophy.
