The world-class org proves why they’re still a force to be reckoned with.
Team Liquid ECHO came to SM Southmall in full force as they crowned themselves as the MPL PH S13 champions. They swept the M5 World Champions Falcons AP.Bren 4-0, reclaiming their MPL championship throne.
The playoffs itself was filled with intense action and drama as all six teams were vying for the two slots going to the Mid Season Cup later this June. This MSC is the first MLBB million-dollar tournament in history, raising the stakes for everyone in the playoffs.
Looking Beyond the Championship
After surviving a rough regular season, Blacklist International was able to make a deep run in the playoffs. They dashed the hopes of Minana EVOS and Fnatic ONIC PH, knocking them out in the first round. However, they ran into the wall that is Falcons AP.Bren, losing to them 0-3. Their offseason would be cut short by RSG Philippines as they bowed out in the lower bracket semifinals.
RSG was also thrashed by Liquid ECHO 3-0, setting up a clash with the titans in the upper bracket finals. It was the closest match in all of the playoffs as Liquid ECHO and Falcons AP.Bren held nothing back to secure that first guaranteed spot to MSC. It was a tight race but in the end, Liquid ECHO proved to be the more clutch team.
Unfortunately, this meant that RSG was facing a Falcons AP.Bren hungry for revenge. They fought their hearts out, but RSG was unable to overcome the prowess of the World Champions and fell to them 3-1.
Even though Liquid ECHO already secured their MSC spot, they didn’t let that distract them from the coming battle. The grand finals was a return to form for Liquid ECHO and a reminder that they too were former world champions and deserved to raise the MPL PH S13 trophy.
