It’s not for Street Fighter 6 but the meme has still come true.
The signups of Evo 2023 have closed and now we have the full image of how massive the number of entrants will be this year.
The organization recently released an update that breaks down the entrants for each of its featured games. In general, there’s an increased number of players across the board with Street Fighter 6 dwarfing them all.
There’s going to be 9,182 unique players from 71 different countries attending Evo this year.
It should also be noted that many of these players didn’t just sign up for one game. Evo says the average number of games entered per player is 2.3. All in all, this means that Evo 2023 is going to have the most bracket competitors ever in the event’s history.
Speaking of records being broken, Melty Blood: Type Lumina, a niche anime fighting game, hit a record number of entrants, beating last year’s total of 411. The real surprise, however, was Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3’s triumphant return to Evo. This beloved game is over a decade old and hasn’t been on the Evo mainstage since 2017. Yet its community endured and even grew as it shattered its previous record of 1,297 entrants set back in 2013.
It’s going to be a wild weekend in Vegas when all these entrants come crashing in for Evo 2023 on August 4-6.
