The Pinnacle of Valorant Esports is Going Down in Champions Los Angeles

By Ramon Domingo - August 03, 2023

It’s going to be two weeks of nonstop Valorant action.

From Sao Paulo to Tokyo, the Valorant Champions Tour is now making its final stop in Los Angeles.

On August 6, 16 teams converge at the Shrine Expo Hall and KIA Forum for the biggest Valorant tournament of the year. It’s the culmination of a season’s worth of blood, sweat, and tears and only one team can be named the 2023 Valorant World Champions.

Starting with the group stage, the 16 teams will be divided into four groups of four. The four teams in each group will play through a double-elimination bracket to determine which two teams will move on to the next round.

Once the eight teams have been decided they will be randomly placed into a double-elimination bracket. All matches will be a best-of-three except for the lower bracket finals and the grand finals, which will be a best-of-five. The remaining teams only need to play out the rest of the bracket to determine which one will be crowned as the Valorant World Champion.

Hat Trick Incoming?

All eyes, from competitors to spectators, will definitely be on Fnatic this tournament. The EMEA powerhouse has won the previous two major events in Sao Paulo and Tokyo. Their most recent victory, the 3-0 stomp against Evil Geniuses, practically cemented them as the best team in the world. Which team would dare stand in the way of Fnatic’s inevitable three-peat?

That team might be coming from the East as China and the Pacific are looking to make a splash in Champions. Paper Rex and DRX have repeatedly proven that they’re not to be trifled with. Meanwhile, EDward Gaming is looking to prove that China is more than just a developing region and is more than ready to take on the veterans.
