The team managed to make it to the playoffs despite a tough season 15 journey.
It was a bumpy ride but Twisted Minds’ coach BON CHAN can breathe a little easier now that the team has made it to the MPL PH S15 playoffs. Upon reflecting on the regular season, coach Kristoffer “BON CHAN” Ricaplaza could only think about difficulties his team encountered.
“Sobrang hirap dahil affected sila physically and mentally dahil sa matinding grind,” said Twisted Minds’ coach BON CHAN. “Tapos sa pag-grind na yon, nararanas din nila yung matinding talo, lalo na sa scrims. So sobrang hirap, especially nung nagsta-start pa kami. Pero yung time na nakuha na nila yung timpla, nung naka-adapt na sila sa sistema ng laro, yung gusto namin magawa nila, dun gumanda yung laro nila.”
The rather unfortunate thing for coach BON CHAN is that this is not unfamiliar territory for him. Last year he faced a similar situation with Blacklist International and while that makes him experienced, it’s not exactly an ideal state for a team. When asked what led to these difficulties, Twisted Minds’ coach BON CHAN points to the challenge of uniting different players to one strategy.
“Yung mga ibang players, galing sa ibang team. Tapos bawa’t teams na yon, may iba-ibang sistema o gameplay. Mahirap talaga i-undo yung mga habits o gameplay na nabuo na nila. At siguro, nung na-realize nila na mas-maganda ang itong sistema, dun talaga nag-start yung improvement namin.”
Now, Twisted Minds really has a chance to show what they’re made of in the playoffs. They’ve got three weeks to prepare and coach BON CHAN already knows what the team needs to work on before their big day.
“Instead of yung parang giyera, pindutan, yung maglaban na walang advantage, gusto ko mag-focus sila sa mga laban na meron silang advantage. Yung mga mas-mataas yung chances of winning, hindi yung kita lang tapos banat. Hopefully yun yung maayos namin.”
