Ulfhednar Lives Up to Their Name, Sweeping the M6 Wild Card

The Turkish berserkers were downright unstoppable on their way to the M6 main stage.

Last weekend’s M6 Wild Card tournament concluded with a decisive victory from the Turkish second seed, Ulfhednar. The former Fire Flux Esports team made short work of the Wild Card hopefuls, showcasing the dominance that the squad is known for.

Ulfhednar were already heavy favorites to make it out of the M6 Wild Card. However, it was clear that their performance was really a cut above the other teams. They cleared their group with a 3-0 match score, suffering one game loss against DianFengYaoGuai, China’s second seed.

In comparison, their opponents in the decider match, Insilio, narrowly escaped a tie-breaker match against Brazil’s RRQ Akira. Insilio is the CIS’s second seed and this is the team’s first time participating in an international tournament. That gap in experience became even more apparent after Ulfhednar soundly swept them 3-0 to take the final M6 slot.

“Experience is really the number one thing that they’re ahead of us,” said Inisilio’s head coach Karl “Giee” Barrientos. “It’s [the team’s] first time in Asia as well. We fought different teams with different metas while still trying to find our true colors.”

“In the [MLBB Continental Championship], we fight the same teams over and over again in both the tournament and scrims. There was rarely anything new there,” he continued.

Still, the Pinoy coach is proud of the relatively young CIS squad and hopes to continue working with them. “They are unbelievable players. They were able to adapt so quickly in just two weeks.”

On the other hand, it was nothing but confidence from Vladimir “Ospreay” Gonchar, head coach of Ulfhednar. “We’re just going to get better and better from here. Since we already got an understanding of what’s going on, we’ll go forward with these emotions that we can win it all.”
