Which Esports are Included in the 2023 SEA Games?

By Ramon Domingo - May 04, 2023
There are over 40 sports lined up for the 2023 SEA games, and for the third time in the event’s history, esports will be among them.

From May 6 to 15, the nations competing in the 2023 SEA Games will be battling it out in the National Arts Bayon Academy (NABA) Theater at NagaWorld2, and in this year’s edition of the tournament, there are many esports to look forward to.

From Mobile Legends to Valorant, here are the different disciplines that talented esports athletes across Southeast Asia will be competing in:

Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (Mobile)

The biggest mobile game in Southeast Asia returns with the Philippines looking to repeat their gold podium finish.

Participating Nations:

  • Cambodia
  • Indonesia
  • Laos
  • Malaysia
  • Myanmar
  • Philippines
  • Singapore
  • Timor-Leste
  • Vietnam
League of Legends: Wild Rift (Mobile)

Riot Game’s mobile version of their flagship game returns without a women’s division. A shame as the Philippine’s women’s team were last year’s champions.

Participating Nations:

  • Cambodia
  • Philippines
  • Singapore
  • Vietnam
PUBG Mobile

The popular battle royal returns for its third year with Indonesia hunting for another gold medal.

Participating Nations:

  • Cambodia
  • Indonesia
  • Laos
  • Malaysia
  • Myanmar
  • Philippines
  • Timor-Leste
  • Thailand
  • Vietnam
  • Brunei
Valorant (PC)

Making its SEA games debut, the tactical first person shooter replaces League of Legends as one of the three PC esports in the SEA games.

Participating Nations:

  • Cambodia
  • Indonesia
  • Malaysia
  • Philippines
  • Singapore
  • Vietnam
Crossfire (PC)

A fast paced first person shooter and a Southeast Asia favorite. Will the Philippines be able to turn their silver into gold this year?

Participating Nations:

  • Cambodia
  • Indonesia
  • Laos
  • Philippines
  • Vietnam
Attack Online 2 (PC)

This first person shooter is Cambodia’s most popular online multiplayer game. Only a limited number of teams will be participating due to the game’s lack of popularity.

Participating Nations:

  • Cambodia
  • Laos
  • Malaysia
  • Thailand

It’s worth noting that the only game that will have a women’s team division is Mobile Legends. Meanwhile, all the other games will have a men’s team division, while individual men’s divisions will be present for PUBG and Attack Online 2.
