WrestleMania 40 was one for the books, from a storyline finished to surprise appearances — and just about everybody took notice.
WrestleMania 40 is upon us. Of course, professional wrestling fans know that WrestleMania is the culmination of the WWE’s various storylines…and a room full of surprises.
The two-night WrestleMania 40 was headlined by Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns. In particular, for Rhodes, this is another shot at “finishing the story”, or winning the WWE Championship his father Dusty Rhodes never had.
Spoiler alert: Rhodes did finish the story. And, it is even sweeter considering this time last year, he was beaten by Reigns for that same belt he just vied for.
Beyond Rhodes and Reigns, WWE’s flagship pay-per-view had a lot to show — from a culmination of The Rock’s heel turn, to a sudden appearance of two icons among others.
As of writing, WrestleMania’s official hashtag has become the top trend on X (formerly Twitter). It’s just right that social media was buzzing with passion about one of this year’s most anticipated sports events.
Here’s how social media is celebrating WrestleMania 40:
As expected, everyone loved Cody Rhodes “finishing his story” in WrestleMania 40. Is this the beginning of the “Cody Rhodes” era? Safe to say so.
On the other end, fans made sure to give Roman Reigns his flowers. Reigns did have a four-year reign as WWE Universal Champion — a remarkable feat no matter what you think of him.
In fact, even Rhodes had to acknowledge his rival’s title run.
But beyond this major storyline, WrestleMania also saw the reunion of three icons in the squared circle: The Rock, John Cena, and The Undertaker. Talk about a return to the good old days, right?
Of course, we couldn’t forget other moments in the event. Think Drew McIntyre’s short-lived World Heavyweight Title run.
…Or YouTube star Logan Paul holding his own against veterans Randy Orton and Kevin Owens’ triple threat matchup.
Really, it’s hard to capture how memorable WrestleMania 40 was, whether for the diehard fans or for a lot of us who grew up watching WWE as children.
However, as some fans say, WrestleMania 40 might just be the “greatest” iteration of the wrestling spectacle.
