A rough start but he still has one more chance at the repechage round.

The Philippines’ John Cabang made his Olympic debut in the Paris 2024 men’s 110m hurdles today August 4, marking a huge milestone in the track-and-field athlete’s career.

Clocking a time of 13.66s, he finished 6th place in heat 1. With this, he landed in 36th place overall, and misses out on a direct path to the semifinals of the event, as only the top three athletes plus the next three fastest overall qualify for the next stage.

But, all is not lost for the 22-year-old runner, as he now moves on to the repechage round happening on August 6. There, he will get another shot at qualifying for the semifinals.

Cabang currently holds the Philippine record for the event at 13.37 seconds.
