The Philadelphia Eagles are your new NFL champions after foiling the Kansas City Chiefs’ three-peat bid in Super Bowl LIX.
Fly, Eagles Fly.
The Philadelphia Eagles on Monday (Philippine time) are your new NFL champions after spoiling the Kansas City Chiefs’ three-peat bid, 40-22, in Super Bowl LIX held at the Caesars’ Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana.
It was a monumental victory for the Eagles, who entered as underdogs against the dynastic Kansas City. Yet with an all-time defensive showing, the Eagles avenged their 35-38 heartbreak from Super Bowl LVII two years ago to become two-time Super Bowl winners.
Star quarterback Jalen Hurts was named Super Bowl MVP after going 17-of-22 for 221 passing yards and two touchdowns. The Alabama product also recorded a historic 72 rushing yards, or the most by a quarterback in Super Bowl history.
Needless to say, social media was sent into a frenzy with the Eagles’ win, with #SuperBowlLIX and other related topics already topping the trends list.
How Social Media Is Celebrating With The Eagles:
Super Bowl LIX also serves as the first championship for Saquon Barkley, the All-Pro running back who crossed over from the rival New York Giants in the offseason. Simply put, everyone was just glad to see a generational talent get a taste of Super Bowl glory.
And along with this crop of Eagles, fans also didn’t forget the late Kobe Bryant, who was a known supporter of his hometown team. As they say, the Mamba would be smiling down as the Eagles lifted their second Super Bowl trophy.
