Two Brothers, One Team: TJ and Troy Alberto Gear Up For PSBK Five-peat

By Jinno Rufino - May 02, 2025

Once again, it’s a family affair in the 2025 Philippine Superbike (PSBK) Championship as the Alberto brothers head a loaded field of riders.

Access Plus Racing returns to the grid for 2025, not just to defend their crown but to raise the bar once again. With four straight championships under their belt, the team enters the Philippine Superbike Championship (PSBK) reloaded and ready to chase a historic five-peat. At the heart of it all? The Alberto brothers — TJ and Troy — two riders, one team, and zero intentions of backing down.

TJ Alberto, the reigning and four-time Rider of the Year, isn’t easing up. After a near-flawless 2024 season that saw him win 9 out of 12 races, TJ returns with a new energy: calm, confident, and still lethal. He knows what it takes to win. Now, he wants to enjoy the journey while still pushing for that elusive fifth title.

On the other side of the garage, Troy Alberto is done playing the understudy. With last season cut short by injury, the younger Alberto enters 2025 with renewed purpose — and a clear target. He’s not just looking to complete the season. He’s aiming to steal the crown from his own brother. Yes, it’s personal.

If this all feels familiar, it’s because we’ve seen this script play out on the world stage. In MotoGP, the Marquez brothers — Marc and Álex — have taken the paddock by storm, turning sibling rivalry into pure spectacle. The Alberto brothers bring that same fire to PSBK: family in the paddock, rivals on the grid. And just like the Marquezes, both are capable of winning it all, and just like in MotoGP, this year will feature two satellite teams powered by Ducati.

But there’s more than just a family feud at play. Marvin Mangulabnan, one of the most decorated riders in PSBK history, is still a force to be reckoned with aboard his Aprilia. Smooth, strategic, and endlessly fast, Marvin remains the biggest threat to the Alberto dynasty—and he’s not just coming to spoil the party. He’s coming for another title.

The 2025 PSBK season features seven rounds of high-stakes action, kicking off and concluding at Clark International Speedway, with stops at Batangas Racing Circuit in between. Every race will be a battle of pace, pressure, and pride.

“Winning four titles gave me the confidence I needed. I’ve got nothing left to prove, but that doesn’t mean I’m slowing down,” said TJ Alberto. “I’m here to enjoy the racing. And yeah, I’m still going for number five.”

His brother Troy shares the same mindset.

“I’m not holding back this year. I know what it takes to win, and I’m ready to go the distance. Whether it’s TJ or anyone else, I’m here to fight for the championship.”

Dad Toti Alberto is just as excited for the coming PSBK season.

“By God’s grace, we had another great season in 2024. For 2025, we’re going all out. TJ, Troy, Marvin — this year’s championship is stacked, and we welcome the challenge. May it be safe, fast, and unforgettable.”
