Dream Come True: Alyssa Solomon Takes Her Talents to Japan

By RJ Ballecer - September 16, 2025

Alyssa Solomon is headed to Japan SV.League for the first stop of her pro career.

Alyssa Solomon’s dreams of playing overseas have finally come true.

Months after a foiled entry to the Korea V-League, Solomon will be making her professional league debut in the Japan SV.League as she joins the JT Osaka Marvelous for the 2024-25 season.

Solomon follows in the footsteps of her idol and National University legend Jaja Santiago, who led Osaka to an SV.League championship before transferring to the Denso Airybees.

“I am very honored and excited to join Osaka Marvelous, which is the champions 2024-25 in Japan and one of the best clubs all over the world as well,” Solomon was quoted in the team’s official website.

“I would like to improve myself more and to contribute to the club as much as possible and I am looking forward to seeing fans, staff, and teammates soon.”

As a former NU standout, Solomon enters Osaka as a three-time UAAP seniors’ champion, being a member of the Lady Bulldogs’ “Golden Generation” along with this year’s first-overall PVL draft pick Bella Belen.

Solomon is also fresh off a productive national team window with Alas Pilipinas, which was headlined by a historic silver medal at the AVC Nations’ Cup in June, and another pair of bronze medals at the Southeast Asia V.League by August.

“Solomon is an opposite player who has represented the Philippines in numerous international tournaments, known for her versatile and dynamic attacking style!” read Osaka’s social media post on her addition.

The prized opposite joins a prestigious list of Filipino players that have played overseas, including Jia Morado-de Guzman, Maddie Madayag, and men’s volleyball stars in Marck Espejo, Bryan Bagunas, and NU men’s volleyball batchmate Leo Aringo.

Will Solomon add an SV.League title to her trophy case soon? Given her and the team’s championship mettle, it wouldn’t be surprising one bit if she does.
