Kim Kianna Dy’s support system was in full force for the PVL on Tour finals.
There was a rare Dwight Ramos sighting at the SM Mall of Asia Arena on Sunday evening for the PVL on Tour finals between the PLDT High Speed Hitters and Chery Tiggo Crossovers.
Fresh off his FIBA Asia Cup stint with Gilas Pilipinas, St. Dwight was in attendance to watch his partner, Kim Kianna Dy, play in her first-ever PVL finals with the High Speed Hitters.
Along with the Dy family, Dwight went on to witness Kianna win her first PVL title, as PLDT emerged victorious in a classic five-setter against Chery Tiggo to rule the inaugural preseason tournament.
“I’m happy for her. First championship in the PVL, and PLDT’s first championship, so very happy for her,” Dwight told The GAME in an exclusive interview as he accompanied Kiana for her media commitments.
As with PLDT overcoming their streak of near misses, Sunday’s title win marks another breakthrough in Kim Kianna Dy’s path to redemption. From making her much-anticipated return to the Taraflex in February, it didn’t take long for the ace opposite to add a PVL title to her resume.
Making things much sweeter, Kianna also came up huge in the PVL on Tour finals against Chery Tiggo, dialing in 13 points, including the game-winning block, to complete PLDT’s golden run in the preseason tilt.
“I mean, I’ve been waiting for this for more than a year now, and I’m happy that I stayed patient,” Kianna reflected in a separate interview. “It hasn’t been really easy, and literally blood, sweat, and tears, and finally ito na ‘yung moment na nag-champion na kami.”
Of course, Kianna is just as happy for Dwight to witness this milestone, given that the couple is on a long-distance setup for most of the year. As Kianna plays pro volleyball in the Philippines with PLDT, Dwight continues to make waves in the Japan B.League with Levanga Hokkaido.
“Happy, of course! Kasi si Dwight minsan lang nandito sa Philippines, and I’m glad he was able to watch the finals game, and he’s actually leaving on Tuesday already,” Kianna shared, with Dwight right behind him during the interview.
Dwight has also been a shoulder to lean on for Kianna, and it is their shared passion as athletes that helps her get through the hardest days of her recovery journey.
“As an athlete, he understands rin what I’m going through, so every time I would be negative, he would say na patience lang, and he would help me go through it,” Kianna said.
It was only right that the stars aligned for “KKDwight” on Sunday night at the MOA Arena, as one of Kianna’s biggest supporters in Dwight was able to witness this long-awaited milestone after a period filled with uncertainty.
From being together amid the days filled with uncertainty, they successfully stood together in one of the biggest nights of Kim Kianna Dy’s pro volleyball career.
