Leo Ordiales promises to give his 100 percent should he be named in the Alas Pilipinas roster for the FIVB Men’s World Championships.
While nothing is set in stone just yet, rising star Leo Ordiales promises to provide nothing less than his best for Alas Pilipinas in the 2025 FIVB Men’s World Championships this September.
The towering opposite hitter is part of Alas Men’s 21-man pool for the World Championships, and also took part in their three-country training camp across Morocco, Romania, and Portugal throughout August.
Should he get the prestigious call-up into the Final 14, Ordiales is prepared to take on whatever role he will be given in Alas’ historic World Championship debut.
“For me, it’s not about age or experience. Whatever role is given to me — whether I’m in the first six, coming off the bench, or just in training — I’ll embrace it and give my all for the team,” Ordiales said.
Ordiales has established himself as one of the Philippines’ best young talents, with his massive upside being validated with a Best Opposite Spiker award during Leg 1 of the 2025 SEA V.League in Candon last July.

One of four National University stars in the 21-man pool, Ordiales is expected to bring a mix of length and athleticism should he be named into the World Championship roster this September.
“I’ll just fulfill whatever role is given to me. Of course, it all starts with trust,” said Ordiales, who has already shown his value during the team’s build-up with his instant scoring off the bench. “I trust them because they also trust me. We’re all helping each other.”
Ordiales also hopes to apply the lessons that he learned from training with veterans such as Marck Espejo, Bryan Bagunas, and fellow opposite Steven Rotter over in Europe.
“My only goal is to give my best, especially since we’ll be playing in front of our fellow Filipinos,” Ordiales continued. “Whatever happens in the world championship, I want people to leave the arena saying they were proud of how the team played.”
Alas Pilipinas will make their historic World Championship debut this September 12 against Tunisia, which will be followed by an opening ceremony that features rising K-pop group BOYNEXTDOOR, and Cebuana artist Karencitta, who will perform this year’s theme song.
The Nationals will then get a four-day break before facing Egypt on September 16, and Iran on September 18 as they hope to make a splash in Pool A action.
