Trisha Genesis is expected to provide additional firepower for the Capital1 Solar Spikers in the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference.
Former Adamson standout Trisha Genesis has begun the next chapter in her PVL career after debuting for the Capital1 Solar Spikers in the ongoing 2024-25 All-Filipino Conference.
The 24-year-old Genesis made her first appearance for Capital1 on Tuesday, scoring a team-high 10 points along with five excellent digs in their 19-25, 19-25, 18-25 loss to the Creamline Cool Smashers at the Philsports Arena in Pasig.
Despite falling into a 1-5 record, Genesis was glad to see her rookie-laden team’s competitiveness against the Cool Smashers’ Grand Slam-winning core.
“Super happy po, sobrang saya makabalik sa taraflex. And syempre makalaro na sa bago kong team. Sa nilaro po namin ngayon, para sa akin, okay siya eh kasi nakipagsabayan po kami knowing po ‘yung Creamline na defending champion po talaga,” Genesis said in a quick post-game chat.
“Parang freshman ulit po sa PVL! Kasi talagang new system, talagang ibang mga tao po ‘yung kasama ko talaga na never ko po nakasama dati pa even the coaches, so talagang back to zero po.”
Trisha Genesis last played for the Nxled Chameleons during the 2024 Reinforced Conference, before moving to Capital1 for “personal reasons”. The 24-year-old, though, hinted that the move to her new club wasn’t exactly a smooth process.
“Sobrang hirap at habang proseso po nung pinagdaanan bago po ako makalipat dito [to Capital1]. And finally, natapos din po kung ano man po yung naging problema ngayon and eto na po ako nakakapaglaro na,” said Genesis, whose signing was announced last January 17.

But now that she’s debuted with Capital1, Genesis can focus on helping her new team improve on their 1-5 record as she teams up with second-overall PVL Draft pick Leila Cruz, skipper Jorelle Singh, and veteran outside hitter Heather Guino-o.
Genesis will also be learning from the legendary Roger Gorayeb, whose knack for talent development can help unleash her full potential in the professional ranks.
“Masaya po kasi si coach, talagang hinahayaan niya lang po kami mag-training, bibigay niya po sa amin yung instructions kung ano pong gagawin and kami na po bahala. Tas hindi po siya basta-basta lang nagpapadrills eh, talagang pag nakita niya kami na petiks-petiks, talagang Coach Roger dragon na ulit! Pero pag nakita niya naman na todo effort kahit sa training, tuwang-tuwa siya and wala siyang [masasabi] ,” Genesis bared.
“Thank you so much po lalo sa coaches, kay Coach Roger kasi paglipat ko pa lang, ‘yung tiwala niya agad sa akin buong buo so thank you so much coach! And sa teammates ko po, kasi talagang tinanggap nila ako ng buo tapos yung tiwala nila hindi talaga kalahati, as in 101 percent!”
Capital1 returns to action on January 25 against Thea Gagate and the ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles, before a tough stretch against the Akari Chargers, Cignal HD Spikers, and Petro Gazz Angels.
Genesis is now determined to pay it forward to the Solar Spikers, especially with the trust and clean slate they have provided for her early on.
“[Goal ko po] is maibalik po lahat ng efforts, ‘yung ginawa nila for me, ‘yung mga tiwala na binigay po sakin especially po the owners [Milka and Mandy Romero]. Ayun po, talagang every game pipilitin ko pong maglaro and 101 percent ko ibibigay palagi,” she said.
