The Athletes of the Met Gala: All the Stars and Winning Looks

From Roger Federer to Daniel Ricciardo, check out how these star athletes cleaned up and showed up to grace the 2023 Met Gala red carpet.

The line between sports and fashion has never been as blurred as it is today — and we’re certainly not complaining.

A number of elite athletes from different sports came together today for fashion’s most highly-anticipated event, the 2023 Met Gala, and they showed up big to pay homage to the theme of this year’s theme, Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty.

From the court to the carpet, here are the looks of the athletes who graced the 2023 Met Gala:

Roger Federer

After announcing his retirement from competitive tennis last year, it looks like Roger Federer has been keeping busy, as the 20-time Grand Slam champion served as a co-chair for the 2023 Met Gala.

Serving in classic style, Federer showed up with a black bowtie tuxedo from Dior, add the classic Karl Lagerfeld pair of shades.

Roger’s wife, Mirka, also paid homage to the theme wearing a bow accent on her feather-detailed gown.

Daniel Ricciardo

Not on the F1 grid this year, but he’s still around, folks! Daniel Ricciardo pulled up to his first-ever Met Gala appearance ready to impress, with his textured three-piece suit. Does the red carpet suit the race car driver, or what?

Russell Westbrook

Sporting a Chanel classic to honor the late Karl Lagerfeld, Met Gala regular Russell Westbrook indeed understood the assignment with his tweed jacket designed by Bode. We’re loving the flower details and the pearl necklace that tie the whole look together.

Patrick Mahomes

Two-time Super Bowl champion doesn’t just clean up in championship rings. He knows how to clean up in classic fashion, boasting a black Hugo Boss suit, with his wife, Britanny’s white gown to fully match (and nail) the less-is-more look altogether.

Brittney Griner

A sports icon and role model, Brittney Griner has become the first WNBA player invited to the exclusive Met Gala — and she did not disappoint, boasting a monochromatic Calvin Klein outfit, from the trousers to the overcoat. Her wife, Cherelle, stole the carpet herself with her effortlessly chic white gown.

Serena Williams

Serena Williams didn’t just show up in an elaborate ensemble and her beautifully fit Gucci dress — she also stole headlines by revealing that she and her husband, Alexis Ohanian, are expecting baby number two!

Dwayne Wade

Dwayne Wade and his wife, Gabrielle Union, looked like the perfect pairing at the Met Gala. Both in leather overcoats, the former NBA star went dark, wearing a black vest underneath his black overcoat, and let’s not forget the black gloves, too. Meanwhile, Union sported a similar look with a more vibrant edge, with her bright red ensemble.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander

Always serving looks, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander proved why he is one of the most stylish NBA players with his outfit at the Met Gala. His Thom Browne-designed outfit took the classic tweed suit to a whole new level, with layers on top of layers — bold, yet tasteful.

Stefon Diggs

NFL wide receiver Stefon Diggs, on the other hand, decided to go with a more classic take to the tweed suit to honor Karl Lagerfeld’s fashion legacy, coming onto the red carpet with a black-and-white Tommy Hilfiger suit.

Eileen Gu

Freestyle skier Eileen Gu demonstrated that she doesn’t just freestyle on the slopes, as she can definitely freestyle on the red carpet, too. Wearing one of the most unique pieces at the 2023 Met Gala, the Olympian showed off a white gown with red blotches, meant to imitate the effect of red wine stains.

Andy Roddick

You can’t go wrong with a classic, and Andy Roddick proves this as the tennis champion shined on the carpet in a black tuxedo. His wife, Brooklyn Decker, was picture-perfect herself in her simple yet detailed white gown, with her layered necklaces to elevate her entire look.

Which athlete do you think won the Met Gala-style game?
