No one was surprised to see Carlos Yulo at the top of the game at the 2023 Asian Gymnastics Championships. At this year’s tournament, Yulo claimed five medals representing the Philippines.

The Filipino gymnast secured three gold medals, topping the competition in the men’s vault finals, the first parallel bar finals, and his strongest event, the floor exercise.

Adding to his total medal tally, Yulo also claimed a silver medal from the all-around event and a bronze from the high bar finals.

His impressive performances in the Asian Championships have easily qualified him for the upcoming World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in September — the biggest qualifier for the Paris 2024 Olympics.

The women really did shine at the 2023 Asian Artistic Gymnastics Championships, as another Filipina also found herself on the podium.

Filipina representative Aleah Finnegan secured a bronze medal when she finished in third place for vault. This marked her first-ever medal in the Asian Championships.

She did not stop there. Adding to this, Finnegan earned herself and the country another bronze after her performance in the balance beam event on the final day of the continental competition on Sunday.

Indeed, the Philippines has many reasons to be proud when it comes to gymnastics. And not only are these athletes an amazing representation of the country, but they are also fine examples of what even more Filipino athletes can achieve.
