Looking for a new way to sweat in 2024? Here are three new sports you should try.
If it’s on your list of New Year’s Resolutions to get into a new sport in 2024, if you’re looking for a new way to stay fit, or if you’re someone who simply enjoys the thrill and excitement of trying something new, we’ve got you covered. A new sport can definitely be a great addition to your list of hobbies.
Here are three new sports you can try out in 2024.
Padel
If tennis or pickleball were your new sports this year, make 2024 the year you finally try out Padel.
Padel is a fun racket sport that combines principles from both tennis and squash, as it is played on an enclosed court surrounded by glass walls. In Padel, the ball can bounce off of the walls and remain in play, making it a highly dynamic and fast-paced sport. But even so, many consider it very quick and easy to learn, which means that even beginners to racket sports can pick it up.
Trust us when we say Padel can be addictive but in the best way. This might just be your 2024 sport obsession.
Sport Climbing
If you’ve never considered climbing a sport, you might want to tune into the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics, as this is among the newest events in the Summer Games.
Sport climbing is similar to rock climbing, except on an artificial wall. Often referred to as ‘bouldering’, this sport involves climbing walls using techniques, balance, and strength to make it to the top. It isn’t as mindless as you think — you need to really use your brain to solve these walls, as there is rarely a straightforward path to the top, making it a great challenge both physically and mentally. Plus, it’s a great pastime to try out with your friends.
More and more people have been getting into climbing over the last few years. In fact, more climbing walls have been put up around Metro Manila, making it one of the best sports to try in 2024.
Flag Football
If you’ve only ever tuned into the NFL Super Bowl to catch the iconic halftime shows, we totally get it. But in 2024, try and stay for a few plays during the actual game and you might just discover that there is a lot to love about American Football. And though it is highly physical, you can try it out yourself in the Philippines in the form of Flag Football.
Flag Football is a variation of American Football wherein instead of tackling players, the defensive team’s goal is to remove the flag of the opposing team to end a play. Metro Manila has its own Flag Football events that you can try out and once you get the hang of it, you might even start organizing your own pickup games with your friends. It’s a great way to spend an afternoon.
