Over the last four weeks, The GAME Team has been calling all Filipino volleyball fans to vote for their favorite UAAP Women’s Volleyball players in a fan-powered tournament called CAMPUS IDOL.
At the beginning of the tournament, we selected the top 16 players of UAAP Season 87. We put the 16 players into eight randomized matchups for the first round, and based on your weekly votes, the winners of each stage advanced, until finally, we uncovered the top player who beat out all the rest.

The Campus Idol of UAAP Season 87 is…
After four rounds of voting, the fan favorite of the UAAP Season 87 Women’s Volleyball Tournament is ANGEL CANINO, representing the De La Salle University Lady Spikers!
Angel Canino is undoubtedly one of the brightest stars in the collegiate volleyball scene today. In her rookie year playing for DLSU, she led the team to the UAAP Season 85 championship title, and was even named Most Valuable Player and Rookie of the Year.
As an Outside Hitter, she is hailed for her powerful attacks on the court, as well as her versatile playing style — two huge assets which she brought to her stint with the national team, Alas Pilipinas. Representing the flag at a young age, Canino was a key cog in the squad’s historic bronze-medal finish at the 2024 AVC Women’s Challenge Cup, underscored by her Best Opposite Spiker award.
The Lasallian beat out other big stars throughout the past four weeks: UP’s own Opposite Hitter Joan Monares in Round 1, UST’s Cassie Carballo in Round 2, Adamson’s star rookie Shaina Nitura in the semifinals, and finally, fellow Lasallian and teammate Shevana Laput in the finals.
Angel Canino is definitely a fan favorite in the UAAP, and The GAME’s friendly tournament has proven that.
