By Annika Caniza - February 13, 2023
Even if you aren’t an NFL fan, chances are, you’ve been counting down to the Super Bowl for just as long as anyone else simply because of Rihanna’s halftime show.

And now that it’s over, we can all agree that it was worth the wait.

From the choreography to the Fenty Beauty cameo, and from the all-hits setlist to the biggest fan in the crowd, here are seven things we can’t get over about Rihanna’s Super Bowl halftime show.

1. The way Rihanna stared into our souls

Rihanna came into the Super Bowl halftime show with her game face on point, looking ready to score a touchdown.

Before the first song even kicked in, she was giving goosebumps right off the bat.

2. The all-star setlist

Rihanna has way more hits than you might even remember. Her Super Bowl halftime performance was a perfect reminder of how incredible she is as an artist and her influence in music culture. In case you missed it or if you want to recreate a playlist in your music library yourself, here are all the songs she performed in her jaw-dropping set:

Bitch Better Have My Money, Where Have You Been, Only Girl (In The World), We Found Love, Rude Boy, Work, Wild Thoughts, Pour It Up, All Of The Lights, Run This Town, Umbrella, Diamonds

Rihanna’s Super Bowl halftime show had absolutely zero chill. It was hit after hit after hit, and if you’re anything like us, you surely must have been bopping the entire time, hoping it would never end. Totally called for. Who else was singing along throughout the entire 12-song setlist?

3. Rihanna’s touch-up

With over 100 million people tuning in — many just tuning in for the Super halftime show alone — of course, Rihanna just had to take the opportunity to promote her makeup brand, Fenty Beauty. In the middle of one of her dances, she whipped out a little compact with her iconic logo on it.

We loved the mini cameo.

4. The mesmerizing scenes

Rihanna had a whole team of dancers with her on the Super Bowl halftime show stage moving in sync to make for one of the most mesmerizing performances. And in the bright pink jumpsuit, the superstar stood out beautifully.

5. The best fan in the crowd

In December 2020, Rihanna and A$AP Rocky made their relationship official, and since then, they have been inseparable and incredibly supportive of one another. So of course, A$AP just had to be there to cheer for Rihanna at one of the most important shows of her career.

6. The finale

When Rihanna was literally lifted like a diamond in the sky — we still can’t get over it. It gave the iconic song a brand new meaning.

7. The big announcement no one saw coming

If you watched the performance, you probably wondered the same thing: Is that a baby bump…?

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Rihanna’shalftime show was her way of announcing that she is pregnant! If the rumors are true, the nine-time Grammy Award winner just pulled off one of the most memorable halftime shows ever, all while carrying baby number two. The announcement makes her show just that much more impressive.
