The Pinoys came out swinging for that spot in the World Esports Championship 2023.
The Philippines showed absolute domination in the 2023 IESF Asian Championships, as the country’s representatives took both the Mobile Legends and Dota 2 championships.
AP.Bren, representing the Philippines for Mobile Legends, had a near-flawless run. They finished at the top of their group, not dropping a single game. The team continued their winning streak until Mongolia was able to take one game from them during the upper bracket finals. Undeterred, the squad continued their show of force and took the championship 3-0 against Mongolia.
For Dota 2, Polaris Esports had a similar trajectory until they lost 2-0 to Myanmar in the upper bracket finals. This was only a temporary setback for the team as they would get their revenge against Myanmar in the grand finals, reversing the situation and beating them 2-0.
With their wins here, the Philippines have qualified for the IESF World Esports Championship 2023 for both Mobile Legends and Dota 2. They, along with five other top finishers in the Asian Championships, will be flying out to Iasi, Romania, later this August.
The IESF is an international organization that looks to promote esports all over the globe. The World Esports Championship features a number of the most popular competitive games in the world such as Tekken 7, CS:GO, and PUBG: Mobile. Dozens of countries attend the Championship each year with each one competing for national glory.
