These three have the potential to shake up the strongest MLBB league in the world.
MPL PH S14 is upon us with new systems and a new team ready to make a name for themselves. While everyone’s already thinking that it’ll be Falcons AP.Bren and Team Liquid PH fighting over the MPL throne, you shouldn’t count out the other teams just yet.
We’ve got three underdog teams that you should watch out for this MPL PH S14. They may not look like it, but they’ve got the potential to hit above their weight and maybe even upset the balance of the MPL.
Aurora Gaming
On paper, Aurora looks like a team that’s playoffs-ready but things are not that simple. Yes, they’re made up of former Blacklist International stars however a “superteam” isn’t just about talent.
Their debut performance at the 1xBet Supernova Invitational revealed some glaring weaknesses with their teamplay. As bad as their results looked, this can be seen as a benefit as now the team has time to work out the kinks before diving into MPL PH S14. The talent and potential is there, they just need to properly harness it.
TNC Pro Team
Speaking of setting expectations, TNC is once again looking to get out of eighth place this season. As rough as that sounds, that’s the reality the team has faced for the past four seasons but this time they might actually have a shot.
TNC is looking to fix things from the top down by bringing in some talent in their coaching staff. Headed by former caster/analyst Caisam “Wolf” Nopueto, together with veterans Patrick “E2MAX” Caidic and Jetson “Goyo” Ignacio, TNC has some of the brightest minds in the game working to turn their fortunes around.
Will they be able to pull it off? Only time will tell, but they certainly have the right people on the job.
Blacklist International
It seems almost strange that Blacklist isn’t automatically included in the top teams discussion but that’s their situation now. With many of their players moving on to different teams, we have a Blacklist team that doesn’t have this aura of dominance that they once had.
Still, it’d be foolish to underestimate Blacklist. Veterans such as Kiel “Oheb” Q.Soriano and Salic “Hadji” Imam are still with the team and will no doubt be their anchors as they navigate this period of rediscovery. Yes, Blacklist may not look as strong as before but they’re certainly not going to let themselves become pushovers. Teams should keep that in mind when they face them.
