This is What it’s Like to Watch the MPL PH Live

By Ramon Domingo - September 14, 2023
Electric doesn’t even begin to describe the atmosphere.

When it comes to sports, there’s nothing like watching it together with a crowd. That statement is true whether it’s esports or traditional sports. You only need to look at the live experience of the MPL PH to see this truth for yourself.

Taking place in the Shooting Gallery Studios in Makati, the MPL PH is a seasonal league that’s now on its twelfth iteration. At this point, they’ve got their winning formula down for fan engagement and hype. Their setup is straightforward, a stage where both teams can see and hear each other and the crowd. Down the middle of the rows of seats is a runway where players can walk down to get closer to the fans, an honor that’s usually reserved for the winning team.

Of course, the fans come to the studio to do more than just watch. They are there to cheer and proclaim their support for their favorite teams and players, often as loud as possible. Some even bring gear like drums to make sure that their support is felt all the way through. Fan support is one of the things at the MPL PH that makes it a truly special experience.

It can’t be understated just how wild the fans would get as the games would go on. Even for the groups who didn’t bring their own instruments, they still had their hands, feet, and voices to literally shake the studio with their cheers. The passion they show for their teams is really out of this world.

A Feast for Fans

While the matches are definitely the main event, fans don’t just come to the MPL PH live for that, as there are many other things for them to do in between the thrilling action. Every week, two teams set up their own pop-up stores to sell merchandise, giving fans a chance to get some exclusive swag.

There’s also the chance to get to mingle with other fans, though not necessarily the ones you expect. You can never know who’s watching the games with you in the crowd, it could be an MPL legend or maybe even a celebrity.
